Today, the blistering sun is accompanied by hot winds, gusting at speeds of up to 12 kilometers per hour, adding to the scorching heat. By 10 AM, the mercury has already crossed the 40°C mark, making it feel like the sky itself is raining fire.

Just yesterday, the maximum temperature surpassed 42°C, setting a new record for the season. With such extreme conditions, it's crucial for residents to take necessary precautions to stay safe and cool during this intense heatwave.

As the heatwave continues to grip the region, it's advisable to stay indoors during peak sun hours, stay hydrated, and avoid strenuous outdoor activities. Additionally, wearing light-colored, loose-fitting clothing and using sunscreen can help protect against the harmful effects of the sun's rays.

Local authorities are also urged to take proactive measures to ensure the well-being of vulnerable populations, such as the elderly, children, and homeless individuals, by providing access to cooling centers and distributing essential supplies like water and electrolytes.

Despite the challenges posed by the heatwave, residents of Varanasi and Eastern Uttar Pradesh are resilient and are coming together to support each other through this difficult time. By staying informed and taking necessary precautions, everyone can stay safe and healthy during this period of extreme heat.
