Revolutionizing Varanasi: New Kashi Project Unveils Ambitious Plans for Urban Development

In a paradigm-shifting move, Varanasi is witnessing a surge in interest and investments driven by the aspirations of individuals eager to capitalize on the city's evolving opportunities. The escalating demand for residential spaces has propelled land prices to new heights, exacerbated by the rising circle rates, making it challenging for residents to settle in the ancient city.

Responding to this dynamic, a comprehensive plan for the expansion and development of Varanasi has been laid out post-Q2. Under the New Kashi Project, the Varanasi Vikas Pradhikaran (VVP) is set to embark on the creation of expansive townships across five distinct zones within the city.

One of the approved segments of this ambitious initiative is the development of 21 villages located between Ring Road and Babatpur, forming a part of the New Kashi Plan. According to Manoj Kumar, the city planner of Varanasi Vikas Pradhikaran, the new township will be strategically located along Ring Road, utilizing a surveyed 200-hectare land area. These areas are earmarked for residential, green belt, commercial activities, schools, parks, and the groundwork for several major projects is already in progress.

Moreover, Varanasi's development is not confined to a single location. Various townships are planned along highways and Ring Road, contributing to the overarching vision of transforming Varanasi into a modern city. These strategic moves aim to not only meet the increasing demand for housing but also lay the foundation for the city's overall development.

The need for more than 1200 hectares of land has prompted Varanasi Vikas Pradhikaran and Awas Vikas Parishad to collaborate on planning the New Kashi Project. Under this residential plan, areas like Kashi Dwar, World City, Vedic City, Sports City, and two other zones are in the preparatory stages to kickstart the New Residential Scheme.

Manoj Kumar emphasized that approximately 17630 crores INR has been demanded from the government to acquire the necessary land for these townships, indicating the scale and importance of these developments for Varanasi's future.

As Varanasi Vikas Pradhikaran is diligently completing other procedural requirements, there's optimism that the upcoming budget will secure approval for the New Township along with further plans for the project. Additionally, plans for developing townships near Pindara Tiraha, Vedic City in the Saranath-Sandaha region, and World City near Harhua have been initiated.

With World City in Harhua already receiving approval and Awas Vikas commencing work on the project, the development of Vidya Niketan Project in Ring Road Phase 2, and the construction of Ganjari Sports Stadium near Varanasi's biggest cricket stadium, these five projects are poised to play a pivotal role in shaping the expansion of New Kashi.

Once these projects come to fruition, the establishment of commercial activities, parks, schools, and hospitals will complete the development of the New Kashi Project, realizing the vision for Varanasi's extensive growth under the Chief Minister's Urban Expansion Plan. Stay tuned as Varanasi undergoes a transformative journey, ushering in a new era of progress and development.
