Record-breaking Offerings at Kashi Vishwanath Temple

The Kashi Vishwanath Temple has set a new record with offerings amounting to ₹87 crores in the fiscal year 2023-2024. This remarkable increase is a testament to the temple's growing popularity among pilgrims and tourists from around the world.

Boost in Indian Railways Revenue

The Varanasi Cantonment Railway Station has reported an 8% increase in revenue, reaching ₹562 crores in the fiscal year 2023-2024. This significant rise is attributed not only to ticket sales but also to non-fare revenue sources such as parking, publicity, and catering contracts. In the previous fiscal year, 2022-2023, the revenue from rail ticket sales alone was notable. However, the current fiscal year has seen an additional ₹40 crores from ticket sales, alongside substantial earnings from platform-based food contracts.

Growth in Non-Fare Revenue

Station Director Gaurav Dixit highlighted a remarkable 83% growth in non-fare revenue. This includes income from parking and publicity contracts, which rose from ₹2.29 crores in 2022-2023 to ₹4.02 crores in 2023-2024. The catering food service also witnessed a significant increase of 43%, with earnings jumping from ₹1.54 crores to ₹2.20 crores. Additionally, the introduction of scanners for general ticket booking saw an 84% surge in the number of tickets booked.
