Kashi Vishwanath Temple: A Spiritual Heaven for Devotees

The Kashi Vishwanath Temple, nestled in the ancient city of Varanasi, holds immense significance for Hindu devotees worldwide. Its sanctum sanctorum, the garbhagriha, allows entry only to devout Hindus, while others can witness the divine presence from outside. Pilgrims can conveniently book their tickets at the temple’s helpdesk, and soon, an online booking system will be introduced.

Over the past six years, the temple has welcomed devotees from 139 countries. From January 2023 to April 2024, the number of foreign pilgrims has increased more than fivefold. Let’s delve into the details:

Foreign Devotees: The influx of spiritual seekers from around the globe has been remarkable. Here’s a breakdown of the top nationalities:

  • United States: American devotees lead the way, drawn by their reverence for Lord Shiva at Kashi Vishwanath Dham.
  • Italy: Devotees from Italy closely follow, seeking solace and blessings.
  • Russia: Russian pilgrims, too, have made their presence felt.
  • Malaysia: Devotees from Malaysia contribute significantly.
  • Spain: Spanish devotees complete the top five.

Ticketing and Facilities:

  • To ensure smooth darshan (viewing) for foreign pilgrims, arrangements have been made for comfortable entry. A nominal fee of ₹600 ($8) allows access to the inner sanctum.
  • Vishwabhushan Mishra, Chief Executive Officer of the Kashi Vishwanath Temple Trust, oversees these arrangements.

    • Italian devotees: 9.78%
