As part of this initiative, a program was organized by BHU's Chief Proctor's Office on Wednesday, in collaboration with Satya Foundation, to raise awareness about reducing noise pollution. Chetan Upadhyay, an environmental expert, provided detailed insights into strategies for noise pollution mitigation.

It was unanimously agreed upon that 'Silence Zone' boards would also be erected near the hospital and trauma center within the university. Furthermore, it was decided to display informative boards on all gates adjacent to the university's external walls, aimed at educating individuals about relevant laws.

Of particular note, these boards will emphasize the appeal to refrain from any form of noise pollution within the university's designated silence zones, extending up to a radius of 100 meters. The Chief Proctor also emphasized that the display boards will highlight the consequences of non-compliance with the standards, including fines of up to one lakh rupees or imprisonment for up to five years under the Environmental Protection Act of 1986.

This proactive measure underscores BHU's commitment to fostering a conducive environment for learning and living, where noise pollution is minimized for the well-being of all stakeholders. By implementing stringent measures and raising awareness, BHU aims to set a benchmark for other educational institutions to follow suit in combating noise pollution effectively.
