Modi Launches Dream Train Connecting Varanasi Across the Ganges: Big Benefits Await!

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate a revolutionary rail project in Azamgarh today, virtually launching a new railway line from Sonwal to Ghazipur City and Ghazipur Ghat Station. Following this inauguration, a train will depart from Ghazipur City to Diladarnagar Junction, heralding the beginning of a new era for the region.

Connecting Dreams Across the Ganges:

The anticipation is palpable as the entire district eagerly awaits the inauguration ceremony, with elaborate preparations underway at Ghazipur City Station. This new railway line, connecting the Kolkata-Delhi main route to the Balrampur-Chapra-Mau route, will strengthen connectivity between major cities in the Purvanchal region. It will establish direct connections between Ghazipur, Ballia, Jaunpur, Azamgarh, and Mau, while also linking Bihar from the other end. Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone for the Tadighat-Mau new rail line expansion project on November 14, 2016.

Project Highlights:

- Total project cost: ₹1,766 crore
- New railway line from Sonwal to Ghazipur City Station
- Rail cum road bridge spanning 1027.5 meters, 16.9 meters wide
- Bridge weight: 26000 tons
- Installation of 52 spherical bearings and 170 panels costing ₹1.5 crore
- Diesel engine trial conducted on March 11; electric engine trial on March 31

Trailblazing Speed:

The new railway line from Sonwal to Ghazipur City and from Sonwal to Ghazipur Ghat, spanning 9.600 kilometers and 7.156 kilometers respectively, saw the successful completion of its final trial run via a light goods train last Saturday. The train traversed both new lines and newly constructed rail bridges at a speed of 100 kilometers per hour, reaching Ghazipur City in six minutes and Ghazipur Ghat in just over five minutes.

Success Story:

According to railway officials, over 24 trials were conducted for both routes, all of which were successful. Nishant Singh, PRO, informed that the final and successful trial run at 100 km/h via a light goods train marked the culmination of the extensive testing phase before the official inauguration.
