This year, the ghats of Varanasi will be adorned with 21 lakh diyas, illuminating all 108 ghats, 75 kunds, and ponds, creating a magnificent festival of lights to celebrate Dev Deepawali. The program is centered around the theme of patriotism, with festivities set to commence on November 27th. Notably, this year's celebration will feature 20 lakh clay diyas and 1 lakh diyas made from cow dung, emphasizing eco-friendly practices. Dev Deepawali 2023 will focus on five main themes, including women's empowerment, the grand construction of the Shri Ram Mandir in Ayodhya, substance abuse prevention, the purity and continuity of the Ganges, and the illumination of Guru Nanak Dev Ji.

Eschewing the use of Chinese lights, the festival aims to minimize the use of electric lights, prioritizing the use of diyas for decoration and illumination. With an expected turnout of around eight lakh people in Varanasi, the Central Dev Deepawali Committee is diligently preparing for the festival, eagerly awaiting the arrival of tourists and devotees.

Acharya Bagish Datt Mishra, the President of the Central Dev Deepawali Committee, shared that this year's festival will revolve around five major themes. These themes underscore the significance of women's empowerment, the monumental construction of the Shri Ram Mandir in Ayodhya, efforts towards substance abuse prevention, the cleanliness and continuity of the Ganges, and the celebration of Guru Nanak Dev Ji's divine light.

The festivities will kick off with the lighting of diyas at approximately 5:15 PM. A synchronized lighting of diyas across all ghats is planned, creating a mesmerizing spectacle. The committee appeals to all guests to Varanasi on that day to cooperate with the district administration, ensuring their safety and security. An earnest request is made for everyone to extend full support to the administration in maintaining cleanliness on the ghats, ensuring a hassle-free experience for incoming tourists during Dev Deepawali.
