Exclusive Entry Gate Reserved for Locals at Kashi Vishwanath Temple
Varanasi, the spiritual heart of India, houses the revered Shri Kashi Vishwanath Temple. This temple is not only a significant pilgrimage site but also a place of immense local importance. To honor and accommodate the local residents of Varanasi, also known as Banaras, a separate entry gate has been reserved for them at the temple. This exclusive entry allows locals to access the sanctum sanctorum directly for darshan during specific hours in the morning and evening, from 4 to 5.
Special Arrangements for Local Devotees
The temple administration has made significant updates to the entry process for local devotees to ensure their ease and convenience. This decision comes in response to a demonstration held by pass-holding regular devotees, who protested outside the temple on Wednesday. They were advocating for the reinstatement of their entry passes, which had been canceled during the Sawan Monday festivities, and demanded a separate entry gate.
Meeting and New Regulations
In a meeting held late in the evening, the temple’s Chief Executive Officer, Vishwabhushan Mishra, announced several new regulations specifically for regular devotees, effective immediately. These changes aim to streamline the darshan process and address the concerns raised by the locals.
Mr. Mishra stated that the temple administration has taken steps to accommodate the daily needs of local devotees. Meetings were held with various regular devotees who visit the temple daily in the morning, and their issues and requirements were thoroughly discussed. Based on these discussions, it was decided that there would be no hindrance in providing touch darshan (direct access to the deity) to regular devotees, similar to the arrangements made for all residents of Varanasi and other devotees from across the country.
Special Entry Through Gate 4B
A consensus was reached on allowing regular devotees to enter through a special line at Gate 4B. This new arrangement is designed to ensure a smooth and hassle-free entry. Additionally, individuals entering from Dhundhiraj Gali will be placed at the front of the general line, provided they carry a valid identification proving their residency in Varanasi. This ID requirement is mandatory for all local residents, ensuring that the system operates smoothly and fairly.
Maintaining Order and Discipline
Mr. Mishra emphasized the importance of discipline among regular devotees. Some regular devotees have raised concerns about disruptions caused by others during darshan, particularly when the sanctum sanctorum gets crowded, making it difficult for female devotees to have an unobstructed view. CCTV footage from various days showed that due to their status as regular devotees, some individuals were not subjected to strict policing and often exhibited unruly behavior.
To prevent such issues, regular devotees are encouraged to maintain self-discipline and follow the temple guidelines strictly. This will help avoid any unpleasant situations and ensure a peaceful and respectful environment for all devotees.
The Shri Kashi Vishwanath Temple’s new arrangements aim to balance the needs of both local residents and visiting pilgrims. By reserving a separate entry gate and implementing strict guidelines, the temple administration is committed to providing a smooth and sacred experience for all. These measures reflect the temple’s dedication to serving its devotees while maintaining the sanctity and order of this holy site.
