Varanasi: The Spiritual Hub Witnesses a Surge in Tourism and Hotel Industry
The sacred city of Varanasi, home to the revered Kashi Vishwanath Temple, has seen a significant increase in tourist footfall, with over 17 crore visitors since December 2021. This rapid growth in tourism has led to a boom in the hotel industry, with 11 new five-star hotels set to be built in the city, investing a whopping 838 crores.
Several prominent hotel groups, including the Tata Group, have expressed interest in establishing luxury hotels in Varanasi. The Tata Group's hotel company is planning to launch a branded hotel in the city, which is expected to be completed within the next two to three years. According to Shivani Gupta, Managing Director of the group, the hotel will cater to the needs of tourists visiting Kashi.
Four new hotels have already broken ground, with a total investment of 449 crores, as part of the Ground Breaking Ceremony 4.0 MOU. These hotels will feature resorts and wellness centers, including the Anandam Spiritual Wellness Centre and Resort, located near the Shulatankeshwar Temple.
This development is a testament to Varanasi's growing popularity as a tourist destination and the hotel industry's response to meet the increasing demand for luxury accommodations.
