Unveiling Amul Milk Collection Centers in Every Village, Offering Cow Dung at One Rupee Per Kilo; Banarasi Flavors to Debut

The inauguration of the Amul Plant in Varanasi's Banas Kashi complex by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on February 23 will mark a significant milestone. Preparation for this event has been meticulously executed. Amul will establish milk collection centers in every village, providing employment opportunities to one lakh people in the Purvanchal region. At the end of each year, Amul will also distribute a percentage of profits as bonuses to dairy producers.

Shankar Chaudhary, Chairman of Amul, shared these details during a press conference at the Banas Kashi complex in Karhiyaw. He revealed that the plant will directly employ 750 individuals and provide field employment to 2,350 others. Placement opportunities will also be offered to dairy students from the BHU. The plant will produce various milk products including ice cream, paneer, khoya, ghee, along with Banarasi flavors and Lal Peda.

Chaudhary mentioned that Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone for the Amul Plant, costing 622 crores, in December 2021. The plant, spanning approximately 30 acres, is fully automated. It will also facilitate artificial insemination and embryo transplant services for high-quality livestock in the future.

Additionally, the company will offer high-quality animal feed. During the discussion, various officials including Labor Minister Anil Rajbhar, Mayor Ashok Tiwari, MLA Nilkanth Tiwari, Saurabh Srivastava, Dr. Avdhesh Singh, T. Ram, Sunil Patel, MLA and District President Hansraj Vishwakarma, Regional Minister Dilip Patel, Pradesh Media In-charge Dharmendra Singh, MD Sangram Chaudhary, and Executive Director Vinod Bajia were present.

Five chilling centers are already operational, with a processing capacity of 1 million liters per day. Currently, chilling centers are active in five districts including Khushipur, Cholapur, Mirzapur, Ghazipur, and Dubepur. Eight more centers will be operational by next month, benefitting cattle rearers from Jaunpur, Maun, Ballia to Gorakhpur. Currently, Varanasi receives 1.3 lakh liters of milk daily, while Purvanchal contributes three lakh liters. Additionally, 1346 committees have been formed, which will soon purchase cow dung at one rupee per kilo.
