The Uttar Pradesh State Counter at the Varanasi railway station has successfully implemented the facility for payments via UPI on the Fair Repeater machine. Varanasi becomes the first railway division in India to offer the QR code facility for UTS Ticket payments. Passengers can now conveniently scan and pay using UPI while purchasing their UTS Tickets, thanks to the pivotal role played by the Centre for Railway Information Systems (CRIS) in developing this program.

According to Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Sheikh Rahman, this facility has been introduced at three ticket counters on the second entry of the Banaras station. Additionally, it will soon be available at seven counters on the first entry.

Moreover, other stations in the Varanasi division, including Varanasi City with 8 UTS counters, Gazipur City with 7 UTS counters, Maun with 6 UTS counters, Azamgarh with 6 UTS counters, Ballia with 6 UTS counters, Siwan with 6 UTS counters, Mirzapur with 2 UTS counters, Katra with 2 UTS counters, Deoria Sadar with 6 UTS counters, Belthara Road with 5 UTS counters, Salempur with 5 UTS counters, Bhadohi with 5 UTS counters, Suremanpur with 5 UTS counters, and Thawe with 5 UTS counters, will soon follow suit in implementing this service.

The introduction of QR payment facilities at railway stations is a significant step towards realizing the vision of a digital India. It not only enhances the travel experience for passengers but also aligns with the government's efforts to promote cashless transactions and streamline processes across various sectors. With Varanasi leading the way, the journey towards a more technologically advanced and efficient railway system has truly begun.
