Easier Commute and Convenience for Devotees: Vehicles Won't Ply on Five-Kos Paths
Varanasi, March 6 (IST): In preparation for the massive influx of devotees expected at the Shri Kashi Vishwanath Temple during the Mahashivratri festival, the traffic department has made extensive arrangements to ensure smooth and convenient transportation, as per the directives of the Police Commissioner.
Traffic movement on routes leading to the Kashi Vishwanath Temple will be restricted, with designated no-vehicle zones from Maidagin to Godaulia. Additionally, vehicles will not be allowed from Godaulia to Sonarpura. Those approaching Godaulia will be halted at Luxa and Girjaghar Chowk. Parking arrangements will be made at alternative locations.
According to traffic officials, route diversions will be in effect from the night of March 7th until 10:00 AM on March 9th. Pedal rickshaws, along with vehicles, will be prohibited on several major routes, including Maidagin-Godaulia and Sonarpura-Godaulia.
Traditional Panchkroshi Yatra will also take place during the Mahashivratri festival, with vehicle movement restricted on these routes. Vehicles will not be allowed from Sujabad Police Chowki to Rajghat, Golgadda Tiraha to Bhadoochungi Tiraha, and Lakhdi Mandi Tiraha to Bhadoochungi Tiraha. Similarly, vehicles will be barred from Kali Mata Mandir Chowk to Pandeyapur Chowk and Lalpur Police Chowki to Ardali Bazaar.
Vehicles traveling on these routes will be diverted. Access for three and four-wheelers will be restricted from Piyari Chowki towards Beniyabagh Tiraha and from Bank of Baroda Lanka to Assi. Parking arrangements have been made at various locations across the city, including C.M. Anglo Bengali Inter College (Bhelupur Jalakal), Madhav Talkies (Luxa), Havelya Chowk, Railway Maidan, Machhodari Park, Town Hall, Cutting Memorial Ground (Mint House), Kashi Vidyapeeth, Sampurnanand Sanskrit Vishwavidyalaya, Queen's College, Nariya-Hyderabad Road, Ravindrapuri Road, Harishchandra P.G. College, and Sanatan Dharma Inter College.
These measures aim to facilitate smoother traffic flow and provide convenience to devotees during the auspicious Mahashivratri festival in Varanasi.
